The Mazedia agency is delighted to be able to communicate about the new application created for Saint-Savin Abbey, a UNESCO world heritage site located near the city of Poitiers in the west of France.
The Abbey offers their visitors with many activities such as concerts, exhibits, and other events. Not only personal guided tours conducted by their knowledgeable docents, but now also offering a digital tablet making visitors completely autonomous while discovering the site and the remarkable frescos as well as other elements which are part of this historic site.
This companion guide tablet completes the visit with experiences composed of 3D reconstructions, expert videos using binaural sound, enabling a total immersion surrounding this UNESCO world heritage site.
User experience was highly thought in this offering, taking into account different factors such as flexibility for users to choose the type of tour according to the desired time length and their need to deepen their knowledge. Moreover, it is translated into 8 languages and accessible to visitors with special needs. The media content concentrates on the history of the site, how it was built, the paintings and the storytelling linking the Middle Ages with present-day societies.
The starting point is the Abbey’s entrance, then the guided tour flow allows visitors to choose from different tours guided options, ranging from 30 minutes, 1 hour, and .. all the time you have available! The contents are all the same; the key is the extent of the knowledge included on each tour. The Abbey’s interpreters and docents did not forget about a game themed tour for the little ones, as well as a special needs’ tour including audio description, sign language (LSF) and easy to read and understand (FALC) content. All this was possible using technology Wezit by Mazedia.
