The Lascaux Cave, located in Dordogne, is one of the most important examples of Paleolithic parietal art. Its paintings, dating back around 17,000 years, form an exceptional ensemble depicting horses, bison and deer, reflecting the beliefs and artistic mastery of the first Homo sapiens.
The travelling exhibition Lascaux 3, created in 2010, shares this heritage worldwide through modular facsimiles of the original cave accompanied by interactive experiences.
As part of the exhibition’s renewal in 2025, Lascaux 3 commissioned Mazedia to design the immersive installations integrated into the reproduction of the Hall of the Bulls, as well as to update the existing virtual reality application.

Mazedia created immersive projections displayed on the monumental facsimile of the Hall of the Bulls and throughout the space, producing an experience with strong emotional impact.

The visual environment combines lighting effects and images evoking the daily life of prehistoric communities, creating a coherent and enveloping universe.

A spatialised sound design reinforces the immersive quality of the installation and accompanies visitors as they move around the facsimile.

Mazedia also adapted the existing virtual reality application for PICO headsets, with further developments planned for 2026.
